Teen Gaming Blowout

Come hang out at Teen Gaming Blowouts for Wii gaming, card games, board games, and everyone's favorite- MAFIA, the murder role playing game!  You can also use our Kindles to play loads of fun games (like CrossyRoad and Five Nights at Freddy’s) and check all your social media accounts. And of course, there will be snacks and a chance to win a really cool prize.  Next gaming party: 

Keep Calm and Color On

Are you feeling unnecessarily stressed?  Drop your worries at the door and join the Library for a coloring party for grown ups and young adults too! Studies show that coloring sharpens the mind and releases stress. Color intricate and interesting designs with color pencils the fourth Tuesday of February, April, June, August, October, and December at 6:00 P.M.The Library will provide paper, pencils, tea, and some of the most relaxing music in the world. Just bring your creative side, we’ll do the rest!  Registration is required.


Family Lego Night

Who doesn’t love planning, creating, building, and destroying amazing creations with LEGOs?  Become a Master Builder and discover why everything is awesome when you play with LEGOs!  Join us for a LEGO Night at the Library on every fourth Friday of the month at 6:30 P.M.  Open to all ages who want to build at the library. The best creations will be put in our newsletter, on Facebook, and displayed in the library! Registration is not required.  Lego night will be suspended over the summer, but will return in the fall.



New Graphic Novels on OverDrive!

Have you heard the word?  The library has purchased a whole tablet full of graphic novels and comic books in e-book form, now available on OverDrive.  Simply access the overdrive system by downloading the OverDrive app and check out your favorite titles including In Real Life, Friends with Boys, Anya’s Ghost, and more!  Plug in today for easy access to these great titles.  Visit OverDrive for our collection of e-books and audio books!  You can download the OverDrive app to any mobile device, and once you set up an account, search for the Mercer Area Library.  It will be located under the New Castle District Library Center, and then you can visit the OverDrive website, use your Follett Destiny User ID and Password to sign in, and download e-books and audio books!  You can download three items at a time for up to two weeks, and there are never any late fees. 


Teen Kindles @ the Library

Teen kindles are available to all young adults for in-library use in the young adult section.  We’ve loaded them with your favorite books, apps (like Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook), and games (including Crossy Road, Temple Run, and Five Nights at Freddy’s!).  All you need to do is check one out at the front desk and return when finished.  Enjoy the library’s free Wi-Fi and have fun playing your favorite games in your favorite place- the teen section of the library!

Collections:  Check out our extensive teen section with loads of great books, non-fiction resources, graphic novels, comics and manga. If you would like to access digital ebooks and audio books, please visit our Overdrive collection.


Periodicals:  The library has subscriptions to four newspapers and over 50 magazines.  Magazines specially catered to teens are located in the Young Adult Section.


Kindles:  Teens may check out Kindles for use in the library.  Ask for one at the front desk, and return it before you leave.


Computer Workstations: Teens have access to five computers in the youth area.


Printing: Patrons can print from computers for $.25/page (black and white only).


Copies: The library has a public-access copy machine. Individual copies are $.25/page.


Online Resources: If you need to look up information online, Power Library  your best friend!  Filled with loads of information specifically for kids, Power Library will help you locate articles, pictures, magazines, and newspapers on virtually any subject!
